My aim is to work with you exploring your thoughts and feelings to develop a mind-set that helps you reach your potential.
What is Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is the combination of hypnosis and therapy. Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) combines Clinical Hypnotherapy with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy is evidence-based and an approved treatment for stress-related disorders by the British Medical Association, the American Medical Association and the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE).
Hypnosis is a collaborative process where you engage your imagination to evoke positive emotions and rehearse behaviour change. In a session you will experience a sense of deep relaxation and with the guidance of the therapist narrow your attention and focus on positive suggestions. It isn’t magic or passive, you will work with your therapist to set goals, develop coping behaviours, overcome habits and create positive behaviours.
Throughout the session you will be in control and aware of everything that is happening, you will be active during the experience and able to respond. It is completely safe, and you can’t get ‘stuck’ in hypnosis.
It is a relatively short-term approach with the focus on learning strategies and techniques to make positive change in your life both during therapy and after the therapy has finished. I like to think of it as an ‘empowering’ therapy that can help with a range of conditions such as stress, anxiety, phobias, fears, flack of confidence or self-esteem, insomnia, IBS, anger management to name a few.

Stress & Anxiety
Stress has been dubbed the Health Epidemic of the 21st Century by the World Health Organisation and its effect on our emotional and physical health can be significant. It can result in physical, mental or emotional strain or tension and can often leave a person feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope.
Feeling anxious or stressed can be perfectly normal. However, some people find it hard to control their worries and their feelings of anxiety can start to impact their daily lives.
If this is happening to you, you don’t have to live with it. We can work together to overcome and manage stress and anxieties.
Confidence & Self-Esteem
Confidence and self-esteem often go hand in hand when people talk about themselves or others, but are in practice two different things. Self-esteem refers to how you feel about yourself; do you feel positive about your self-worth, believe in yourself and value yourself. Confidence is more about your abilities; how you deal with things, accept challenges and approach opportunities. Confidence builds as you achieve success, but may be present in one area of your life, for instance your family relationships, but less confident in another, for instance work relationships.
The good news is therapy can support you in both of these areas. Helping you to discover; what is driving you forward, what’s holding you back, the resourceful behaviours that can be developed further and some simple skills and techniques to help you grow in confidence, whether that’s problem-solving skills, assertiveness or a deeper understanding of your attitude to yourself and sense of worth.
Through a mix of 1-1 sessions and practice and experimentation between sessions you’ll be able to start to quieten that inner critic and develop a healthy positive script that supports a more confident you.
